comment: My Uncle Edward owned this theater for many years. He has informed me that when this theater was built they were building the new Live Oak High Scholl at the time and some of the original wood beams in the original Live Oak High were used in building the current Granada, this is a piece no one may know. I talked to about 55 people at one of our club meetings and they are excited about saving the theater, most will sign the pettition and will be seeing the show on march 12 & 13 we may be sold out both days, lets hope so. I posted some posters at work, many people at my work live in this area and i have had alot of feed back. Things are looking good.

comment:I have heard many rumours about saving the theater. I have heard that there is a potential buyer. I have heard that the cost to refurbish the building is not cost effective. Would this be a good use for a joint effort with the RDA? The El Toro Brew Pub has received substantial assistance from the RDA, can the case be made well enough for RDA assistance (remember that the RDA is about to hand over about $8 million back to the State)? What specifically are the stumbling blocks to the success of a rejuvinated theater? 1. Repair costs to the existing structure required in addition to any rennovation work? What are the costs to repair the existing structure? 2. A practical business model for the remodeled theater? How will it perpetuate itself? 3. Ownership of the theater? Is it a good idea to have public ownership? Is there a potential and real owner waiting in the wings? I love the small town feel of our Morgan Hill. I would love to have the Granada Theater live on in more than just our minds and in pictures. I fully confess that I don't have all of the facts but in the modern world (sic) that we live in is the new theater really viable. If it can be shown to be viable to me, tell me where to get the info, then I will be a supporter. Educate me and I think you can find a way to educate all.

comment:I loved the Granada growing up in Morgan Hill and it is valuable to the community's heritage. For a prime example of what can be done with a historic theatre, I offer the Palace Arts Center in my current home of Grapevine, TX. https://www.grapevinetexasusa.com/Heritage/PalaceArtsCenter/tabid/520/Default.aspx Best to all and I hope the Granada's heritage is preserved.

subject:Nephew of Edward & Irene Enderson - OWNERS FOR OVER 50 YEARS
comment:I began working at the Granada Theater in 1971 when I moved to Morgan Hill to live with Edward & Irene Enderson. They owned & operated the Granada for over 50 years. I worked the Projections Booth, the Candy Counter, The Box Office and inside the auditorium. Every Monday night after the first move ended I would go out and change the Marquee and put new posters in the frames on the street. I worked for my Aunt & Uncle off and on for over 18 years. I have spent so may hours in the Granada. I could write stories for days about different experiences. I now live in Oregon and travel back to Morgan Hill to see my Uncle Edward several times per year. I never leave town without stopping by the Granada. It tears my heart out to see my Granada sitting dark when I know what it can produce. The last time I changed the Marquee was just 2 years ago when my Aunt Irene Enderson died. I was allowed to place her name on the Marquee. 30 years later, it felt like I have never missed a day. The Granada means so much to so many people. I would love to come back and operate the Granada for the city of Morgan Hill. Doors open at 6:45 and show stars at 7:00. Just like it has for many, many years. I have many photos and many more stories I would love to share. Please drop me a line at TerrySalty@gmail.com Terry Saltalamachia
